ten recognized subspecies
The Siberian tiger together with the bengal tiger are considered
 the largest living felids
They are a notably sexually dimorphic species with males being consistently larger
 and heavier than females
Males alse have wider forepaw pads than females

They have fur that can camouflage them in vegetation, dense vegetation,
this gives them more succes at hunting prey.
An adult tiger wether male or female will sometimes share it's kill with other tigers.
Tigers are able to capture prey in the water or carry it through the water.

Adult tigers largely lead solitary lives
and establish and maintain home ranges.
A male tiger may have a territory covering 60 to a 100 km2
while a tigress may have a territory of 20 km2.
The range of a male tends to overlap those of several females
providing him with a larger field of prospective mating partners.

The male marks his territory by marking trees with a golden shower
and marking trees or the ground with his claws.
And some other methods.

The white tiger is only found in the Bengal subspecies.

A golden tiger has thicker than usual light gold fur.
